In this furiously funny and poetically moving solo Caroline Richards explores,
with her audience, the inner fears and outer vanities consistent with the species “actress”.
The cheeky stage character illtreats the shy, slightly nervous actress who is determined to
perform her deep and meaningful play. Moving between truth and lies, reality and illusion,
comedy and tragedy the story is told about a character who impatiently awaits the birth of her actress,
accompanies her on her journey through childhood, youth, into adulthood and onto the stage where

„La Tragédie Comique“ premiered 1988 in Atelier Sainte-Anne, in Brussels, and continued at Peter Brook’s
legendary Bouffes du Nord, in Paris. In 1992 it received the award for the best foreign production at
the international theater festival in Quebec.
Originally created for and with Yves Hunstadt, a male performer, this is the german language premiere,
as well as the first ever version with a female performer
what the papers say:
„Caroline Richards displays sparkling eloquence: in gestures, intonation, tempi and movement
including changing her nose! With the virtuosity of a master pianist*in she plays up and down
the keyboard of dramatic art: precise, imaginative and totally believable because everything
she does is emotionally grounded…if you love dramatic art, you should not miss Caroline Richards’
brilliance” (Salzburger Nachrichten, 08.10.2021)
